These undemanding snails prefer a planted community aquarium with stable water conditions. The supplier raises them at a pH of 7–8, KH of 2–8, GH of 7–15 and temperatures of 65–85°F. Occasional cuttlebone provides a calcium source to support their shells.

Population and cold-weather considerations

Ramshorn snails belong to the family Planorbidae and can reproduce quickly when excess food is available. A sudden increase in baby snails can be a useful signal to reassess feeding. Over time, breeding levels respond to the food available in the tank.
