Pinguicula (butterworts) are carnivorous plants native to México and the Northern Hemisphere. Their glandular, sticky leaves trap small insects like gnats and fruit flies, then dissolve and absorb them for nutrients. Under bright light, the leaves shimmer and develop beautiful reddish-pink hues.
What's in the Kit
Each kit includes a porous lava rock (red or black, varies by availability), a Mexican Pinguicula soil mix, and a 10" heavy-duty saucer. Choose your option:
- Option 1 – Rock Kit Only: Rock, soil mix, and saucer. No plants included.
- Option 2 – Rock Kit + 5 Small Pings
- Option 3 – Rock Kit + 10 Small Pings
- Option 4 – Rock Kit + 15 Small Pings
Plants are randomly selected mystery butterworts, approximately 0.4–0.6" in diameter (about the size of a dime). Not customizable — no special requests or substitutions.
Shipping Notes
Due to size and weight, kits ship in a Large Flat Rate box. If you live outside California, please select this option at checkout. Plants ship bare root on Mondays and Wednesdays. A heating pack is strongly recommended in winter — we are not responsible for cold damage without one.
