Pinguicula orchidioides {near Ixtlan de Juarez, Oaxaca, México} is a rare perennial heterophyllous butterwort species prized by collectors. This unique plant produces distinct seasonal growth: a winter rosette with pointed succulent leaves covered in fine hairs, and a summer rosette of 2–8 larger petiolated carnivorous leaves. During summer, it also develops whip-like stolons capable of producing new plants.

Once shrouded in taxonomic confusion, P. orchidioides was misidentified for over a century until botanist Zamudio restored its true name in 1998. Today, it is recognized as a fascinating and historically significant carnivorous plant species.

A must-have for enthusiasts, terrarium keepers, and collectors of rare butterworts.
