What you’ll receive

  • One live Fused Tooth Extreme Venus flytrap.
  • A young plant approximately 2–3 inches across, shipped in a 2.5-inch pot.
  • Care instructions included with your plant.
  • A plant similar to the listing photos, not the exact plant pictured. Natural color and appearance vary; some plants are greener than others.
  • Shipped via First Class mail.

How a Venus flytrap catches insects

Nectar inside the traps attracts insects. When an insect touches a trigger hair repeatedly, or touches two hairs within a few seconds, the trap closes. Hairlike structures along the edges interlock to help hold the prey inside. Digestive enzymes then break down the insect, a process that can take up to ten days.

Venus flytrap care at a glance

  • Light: Full sun.
  • Potting medium: Peat and perlite, or pure peat.
  • Watering: Use the tray method; reduce watering during winter dormancy.
  • Feeding: Bugs or fish food every 3–4 weeks, following the included care instructions.
  • Humidity: 50–85%.
  • Temperature: 65–80°F in spring and summer; 35–55°F in colder months.
  • Mature size: Varies with growing conditions and care.

Important winter dormancy information

Venus flytraps enter dormancy during the colder months, typically October through February or March. Plants shipped during this period will be smaller than their active-season appearance. Seasonal growth resumes in spring and summer. Please account for dormancy when comparing your arrival with the listing photos.
